The series is amazing!

I think they released 4 on PC actually buts its hard to find. The rest are all console.

For anyone who wants suggest getting 3 and 4 first ALL ARE AMAZING but 3 and 4 are the best IMO. There was a 5 released but its unlike the rest you know they tried something different and well most didn't agree with them so its not very popular. Its ok by me but not even close to as good as 3 and 4.

Some things about the game here.

- you collect dragon DNA and combine them to form different dragon transformations for your character YUP ! a BAD ASS START RIGHT! :D

- you get the coolest characters to join your party. A half tiger half hum guy that transforms into a were tiger ! You get a robot with awesome attacks you get a dog humanoid guy who is a samari you get an Angel Girl! and many more
YUP bad ass I know :D

- Then you get to learn all kinds of spells normally awesome elemental attacks etc etc. But in addition to the the regular ones yo get you will be able to LEARN YOUR ENEMIES ABILITIES THROUGH THE GAME!
OMG MORE BAD ASS! :D

- You go to masters and learn skills of all kinds you start off as like an apprentice and work your way to masters with different mentors who not only teach you new skills but also give you bonuses like increased health attack power mana or whatever.

- You can can go fishing and catch all kinds of fish that you can eat to increase stats, heal health, uses to learn a few skills I think.

- Little things still impress me to this day. Your characters have cool stances when doing different things in battle. Like if you are casting a spell with your main guy he sticks his sword in the ground and puts his hands together and charge sup energy like he is a bad ass dragon ball Z character. In another version he charges up energy in his left hand while while still holding his sword with his right hand.

Defending has a different stance compared to attacking.

You can switch out your characters in battle.

You can vids on youtube.

BoF4
He is fishing here but I think he does some fighting later. I am in a rush right now but will try to find better videos later for you guys.

So Much Fun!

Please gog get this.

Some review videos by SuperDerek to help people learn more about the series. ^_^

Breath of Fire 1
Breath of Fire 2
Breath of Fire 3
Breath of Fire 4
Breath of Fire 5

I love the art in 3 and 4.
If I didn't have a massive backlog, I would go back and play the series. I remember the first two being rather good, never got around to the followups though. I can't get into many JRPGs these days though, mainly just my three big Ss: Shadow Hearts, Suikoden, & Shin Megami Tensei. Shadow Hearts' devs cease to be, Konami seems to be giong through some bizarre shift, but if I remember correctly, Sega bought Atlus (or did they?) would love to see them port MegaTen to PC.

Oh, and Nippon Ichi... damn you Nippon Ichi. Why did you decide to test the PC market with Cladun? I can understand them not risking their flagship IP but you could have at least tried with Soul Nomad.... sigh....

Reminds me that I have Megaman X Command Mission sitting on the shelf unplayed. Hmmm,,, another Capcom RPG and I think it too uses zenni as a currency.

Sorry for going off the rails Licdom, but back on topic, if put to a vote I'd be in. :)
You forgot the land hunt minigame in 2, son! Chasing boars and juicy, meaty game, was pretty interesting!

My favorites are 2 and 4. 4 saw a pc release, 3 was a playstation 1 exclusive, 1 and 2 were on Snes but they also got a GameBoy Advance REMAKE!

Interesting series, very atmospheric, not that unique, but pretty good! Actually, they feel very much like your typical, usual, Jrpg. Want those too! Sign them in community wishlist!
The protagonist was silent. I don't like silent protagonists. I still finished 4, but I don't like silent protagonists. Because they're silent and look like idiots, and people who talk to them and pretend like they're talking look like even bigger idiots. I don't like the main cast of the game I'm playing to look like idiots, unless we're talking Saints Row.

But otherwise it wasn't a bad game, I liked that the characters not in the main party were still around on the back row recovering mana and supporting the guys doing the actual fighting.
If you love them so much then why don't you marry them?

or at the very least vote on their wishlist entries :P

P1na: unless we're talking Saints Row.

Ya it was for a console you are correct. But I was just comparing it to the other ones previously made.

Want!
Breath of Fire IV was indeed ported to PC long time ago. Friend gave it to me to play, and it was very good and stable port. Game itself was quite wonderful, especially after BoF III, which wasn't that good at all.

BoF I, II, IV are among the most memorable RPGs. I didn't play them for ages, and their music, gameplay and story are still quite fresh in my memory.
Yes, let's praise Dragon Quarter for a passable RPG....where you can't find or at least is obnoxious to find your save points or HOW THEY WORK, let's just deam the fact you reflected that criticism for just being different except for WHAT it's different.....I can't transform into a dragon without before looking at a game over.....during the ENTIRE GAME...it sucks

And by the way, you don't set good written characters and beautifully architectures of maps in the game and punish the player for feeling the reminiscense of it....is like David Cage and the line "game overs are a failure of the game designer" a big flop

Hey, No 4 had a PC release! Yeah, vote and raise a ruckus! I want a DRM free copy of it! Tweaked for modern systems too!
I just came here to say that I'd love to see these released on PC.
Loved the Breath of Fire series 1-3, never got to play the ones after.
