Well if you like platformers then you can't probably go wrong with Psychonauts.

I love that game. It is humorous, features various worlds and powers and is fun to play. It can have a bit clunky controls sometimes (but not too much) and camera is PITA sometimes but it is nothing serious IMO and the game is great fun to play.

It certainly is not nostalgia talking because first time I played it was in August 2015. :-)
I was putting it away for some reason for a long time and when I played it I wondered why.

Much of the usual (just looking at pc here):
ES Games modded to death
BG games with BigWorld
Stalker series
Duke3d
Shadow Warrior 2013
Vampire the Maskerade (both)
The five GTA games - GTA1/2/3/Vice City/San Andreas
etc.

Plus I would chuck in the mix some which I found fun recently:
Fist Puncher - fun punch em up, no real depth though.
Rogue Legacy - infuriatingly addictive, its hard but rewarding as apposed to say Volgarr the Viking which is just hard.

Lots of good mentions already. I'll add:

Divinity II. You may like it better than the first; it has more voiceovers (so less reading required), more modern graphics, and the story doesn't require playing either of the first two games. Besides, about a third of the way through the game, you gain the ability to turn into a dragon at will and fly around!

King's Bounty. A fun strategy/RPG hybrid with modern graphics, emphasis on fun. You shouldn't pass this one up. Start with KB:TL or KB:Crossworlds.

Sunless Sea. This is a bit against some of your criteria, because there is reading, and more reading, but stick with it through the first couple of hours and you may find yourself absolutely mesmerized. Definitely check out the game card. It's not like anything else out there.
