What does this code mean on a cable box? I've searched and can find no mention of its existence anywhere!
This question / problem has been solved by ussnorwayimage
It means it's time to switch to a better ISP or drop the cable box. Who the heck has cable in this day in age when there's at least 15 streaming services to pick from?

Here, let me parse it out for you:
ACT probably means account. Maybe a payment didn't go though, maybe there's a service outage, maybe you should just call your provider's support number.
its a transmit error : normally listed as C-act4 i.e, a 'ping' was send to the next device in the network chain and did NOT return within the allowed [100ms to 2S] time

why = we don't know but could be a drop out , noise or a 1/2 dozen other causes that may or may not have anything to do with your ISp... i would start by testing your house hardware isn't at fault like for example Windows Vpn users allowing Microsoft updates that break their network

My internet connection was just fine; it was only my TV that was messed up. I ended up waiting and it rebooted just fine, eventually, but I just didn't understand the error. I had even checked lists that supposedly show all error codes, and that one was never mentioned on any of them! Really comprehensive lists, huh?
